Open since 2005, Restaurant Oliv is modern and cosy, with an uncomplicated and pleasant atmosphere.
Oliv is a gourmet restaurant with a high level of service and the range of fresh, light dishes and extensive wine list.
We went to Oliv just before we had our first child – it was our last date night for a while! The food was spectacular and we decided before we went that we wouldn’t even look at the prices. However, the prices were completely reasonable for the quality of food.
I chose both an entrée and main from the specials menu and started with the scallops, which I could have eaten another plate of – they were divine. For main I had a pasta dish with fresh truffle. The waiter brought the whole truffle to the table and weighed it and shaved it on top of the pasta right in front of us. You could chose how many grams you wanted and the price was per gram.
Dessert was a classic Crème brûlée, which also did not disappoint.
There is also a business lunch available from CHF 37.
This is a real, grown up restaurant and I can not recommend it enough. The staff were also very friendly and attentive. To go, make a reservation via the website.
Mediterranean. English menu here.
Expect to pay upwards of CHF 17 for a starter and up to CHF 48 for a main. Dessert also starts at CHF 17.
Not good for…
Fussy eaters – the menu isn’t huge, which means what is on the menu is perfect. If I took my sisters there they’d want to order without this or that and have a side of BBQ sauce. Not going to happen at Oliv.
What to wear
Dress to impress. I wore flat shoes as I was 8 months pregnant but felt a little under-dressed!
